Overview:

The Germans had crossed the Somme and established three bridge-heads on the western shore at Abbeville, Amiens and Péronn. As these posed a mortal threat to the French forces, they had no alternative but to counterattack. At Abbeville, the recently promoted Général de Brigade Charles de Gaulle pressed forward, despite protests from his officers that the French units were not ready. - - - - In The Abbeville Bridgehead, French infantry supported by R35 and nearly-impregnable B1-bis tanks set out to seize two strategic buildings. The Germans, lacking effective AT weaponry, might still try to immobilize the French monsters with their 37mm PaK guns.

2025-02-19(A) Jon Jaramillo vs Chris Larkin French win4 hrsThe French decided to attack along the southern edge, using Armored assault and numerical superiority to overwhelm the German defenses. The plan was the capture the first VC building quickly, regroup there and mount an attack against the other board 4 VC building by turn 7. The plan went mostly as laid out with a lot of French forces swarming the final VC building by turn 6. The big move was bogging my Bis next to the steeple in the graveyard and getting a couple point blank shots with the armor leader on the Germans holding down the building. I overwhelmed the building, eliminated the squad upstairs for FTR and got the leader in the steeple in CC. Chris played a good game as the Germans, he won't complain but his dice bailed on him at the end.

2023-09-19(A) Andy Bagley vs Gordon Jupp German winInteresting scenario but a tough one for the French I reckon against accurate German play, which my opponent certainly achieved here with a well-executed fighting withdrawal. There's a lot of ground to cover, and whilst I was fairly aggressive I didn't want to take too many risks early on, which meant I fell 'behind the clock' in terms of my speed of advance. By turn 6 I had captured the southernmost VP building, might have got the northern one, but was nowhere near the third one, so conceded.
