Overview:

On 18 May 1942, German forces secured the eastern sector of the Crimea Peninsula with the capture of Kerch and the destruction of the Russian 44th and 51st Armies. This allowed the Axis forces to focus their attention upon the strategically important city of Sevastopol on the western side of the peninsula. Manstein ordered a two-pronged assault. During the night of 28/29 June 1942, the German XXX Corps and Romanian Corps attacked from the south and east toward Sapun Ridge, simultaneously, the 22nd Infantry Division, supported by the 902nd and 095th Assault Boat Commands, attacked from the north across the 600m wide Sevastopol harbor (Severnaya Bay) into the flank of the Sapun Ridge defenses.
Attacker: German (65th Infantry Regiment, 22nd Infantry Division with attached 905th Assault Boat Command)
Defender: Russian (79th Naval Infantry Brigade)

2017-05-13(A) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best Russian winMy opponent's multi-layered defense successfully broke up my initial assaults. As a result, my forces were too weak to wrest control of the main hill.
