Overview:

On the day that Operation MARKET-GARDEN officially ended, the 7th Somerset Light Infantry was ordered to capture the crossroads in the center of Elst. Supported by a troop of tanks, the Somersets jumped off at 1000 hours on either side of the main street of Elst, moving towards the Nijmegen-Arnhem Highway through the dense town with its houses and small orchards. Major Knaust, however, was not yet ready to give up the town.

Germans shrecked a tank in.the North but constant fire drove SS deeper into the town, Constant casualties to.tje SS wore them down and nearly surrounded ended the fight early.

2021-07-12(D) Pascal Boileau vs Serge Doba British winDespite a bad setup for the Germans (my side), it was not so easy for the British troops to progress towards the North of the map and to occupy the buildings. The smoke of the OBA helped a lot in the first turns of play. Ferocious CC at turn 6 gave a decisive advantage for the British. The end of the game was decided in the last CC... and as usual in this kind of situation (i.e. the issue of the game is decided on the last DR), I lost !
