Overview:
On 29 July, the increasingly dire situation prompted Eighth Army Commander General Walton Walker to issue to division commanders what became known as his “Stand or Die” order, which read in part "There will be no Dunkirk, there will be no Bataan." Positioning the 1st Cavalry on the far right, Walker set up headquarters in Taegu in the center of the Pusan Perimeter, determined to make a stand. Meanwhile, the KPA launched multiple attacks across the Naktong River towards Taegu, beginning on 5 August against the ROK 1st Division north of the 1st Cavalry, and following with the KPA 10th Division (in coordination with the 3rd) crossing near Yongp' o on 10 August, where 7th Cavalry's 2nd Battalion stopped them.Attacker: American (2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment and 16th Reconnaissance Company, 1st Cavalry Division)
