SHOULD BE SP232 -- During the evening of 5 July, the 25th Rifle Corps commander the 78th Guards Rifle Division reinforced with the 214th Guards Rifle Regiment. Their mission was to establish defensive positions near Krutoy Log blocking the German advance. The 7th Panzer Division now had to bypass the 78th Guards Rifle Division’s remnants and attack the fresh 73rd Guards Rifle Division. Reinforcing the 73rd was the SU-122-equipped 1438th Self-Propelled Artillery Regiment. On the afternoon of 6 July, after skirting the 78th Guards Rifle Division’s defenses, the 7th Panzer smashed into the 214th Guards Rifle Regiment.Attacker: German (Elements I/25th Panzer Regt., & II/4th Panzergrenadier Regt., 7th Panzer Division)
