Overview:

During the first three weeks of the war the Russian 14th Army drove Detachment Pennanen before it all the way to Hoyhenjarvi where the advance halted and the contenders dug in. The front would be quiet until February 24, when a Russian ski detachment commanded by Catian Znamenskiy infiltrated the thinly-held Finnish defenses in an attempt to cut the Finnish supply road. Nearby artillery and supply troops halted the Russians just short of their objective. The Russians turned to retreat only to find they had been cut off. Znamenskiy turned his now-decimated force and reached high ground at the Puurovaara fjeld. Surrounded by Finns, they were trapped in a motti. On February 26, the Russian 205th Rifle Regiment and a T-26 platoon from the 411th Separate Tank Battalion were tasked with breaking though to the beleaguered skiers. . . .previously released as "Skiing in Laponia"

2023-05-10(A) Shane Pask vs Russian winDeployed group A on board 4. Then drove straight into a minefield - and straight out again with no detonation. The other platoon then drove straight into the AT gun's hiding spot. One tank down then the AT gun malfs and disables. Broke the Finnish HMG squad - then when shot at again, it battle hardens and creates a hero. However this group still cannot make much difference and the Russians get past them to meet up with the skiers on turn 5 on board 19 (the Finns committed too many reinforcements on board 4). The Finnish rearguard only managed to break the wounded leader of the skiers. Once they were in the big woods, the Finns could not stop the reunion. Fun scenario that is a bit different with the separate board strategy.
2022-01-19(D) Dwayne Duval vs Kevin Duval Russian winNot one of my favorites.
2022-01-16(A) Kevin Duval vs Dwayne Duval Russian winUsed Finn balance. Russians opted for Group A on board 4 & AFV managed to tie down Finns enough to link up the needed squads in the Woods west of the Hill.
2021-09-18(D) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best Finnish winDan elected to hit me on Board 19. I had my Finns defending right on the west edge. The Russians entered under intense fire and three squads were lost and by Turn 3, it was over and a Finnish win. West edge defense was the key.
2021-09-18(A) Dan Best vs Kermit Mullins Finnish win
