Overview:

During the first three weeks of the war the Russian 14th Army drove Detachment Pennanen before it all the way to Hoyhenjarvi where the advance halted and the contenders dug in. The front would be quiet until February 24, when a Russian ski detachment commanded by Catian Znamenskiy infiltrated the thinly-held Finnish defenses in an attempt to cut the Finnish supply road. Nearby artillery and supply troops halted the Russians just short of their objective. The Russians turned to retreat only to find they had been cut off. Znamenskiy turned his now-decimated force and reached high ground at the Puurovaara fjeld. Surrounded by Finns, they were trapped in a motti. On February 26, the Russian 205th Rifle Regiment and a T-26 platoon from the 411th Separate Tank Battalion were tasked with breaking though to the beleaguered skiers. . . .previously released as "Skiing in Laponia"

2025-12-26(D) Don Berg vs Solo Finnish winRussians came in on turn 2 on board 19. The Finns were defending the board edge. The HMG and ATG were on the other board, but the lone Russian tank was destroyed by the MMG set-up in the center of the board. The ski troops AM'd onto the board, but were wiped out down to 1.5 squads by turn 3. Based Russian strategy from an AAR on internet. It seems they should wait to enter until the relief troops get close enough to clear a way.

2023-12-18(D) M T vs V.K. Finnish winReally tense game only resolved on the last turn. In the end the Finnish HMG brought in the victory. Opponent played a good game also.

I have to say I liked the scenario. It's something different and a nice good puzzle to think about, especially as the Finnish player. I should also think that it offers some good replay value.
2023-05-10(A) Shane Pask vs Russian winDeployed group A on board 4. Then drove straight into a minefield - and straight out again with no detonation. The other platoon then drove straight into the AT gun's hiding spot. One tank down then the AT gun malfs and disables. Broke the Finnish HMG squad - then when shot at again, it battle hardens and creates a hero. However this group still cannot make much difference and the Russians get past them to meet up with the skiers on turn 5 on board 19 (the Finns committed too many reinforcements on board 4). The Finnish rearguard only managed to break the wounded leader of the skiers. Once they were in the big woods, the Finns could not stop the reunion. Fun scenario that is a bit different with the separate board strategy.
