Overview:
The main attack of the reinforced 132nd Infantry Division against the fortifications of "the Bastion" and Maxim Gorki was scheduled for 0500 hours during the morning of 17 June. After a days-long bombardment was completed, the reinforced 132nd Pioneer Battalion was given orders to infiltrate Red Army lines and probe for weak spots. Moving through the broken ground, the pioneers were able to find a weak point between two battered Russian battalions and pushed into it to open a path for the main attack. The way to the Bastion was now clear and it would be up to the remaining landsers to finish the job the pioneers started.Attacker: German (132nd Pioneer Battalion and 213th Infantry Regiment, 132nd Infantry Division)
