Overview:

The German 7th Infantry Division was defending in the area of Karniewo with Haputmann Fritz Schock's 507th Schwere Panzer Abteilung in support, when elements of the Soviet 48th Army struck. Leading the attack was the 29th Guards Tank Regiment. At its spearhead was Lt. Ivan Khitsenko, commanding an IS-2 tank. Through mist and across snow covered ground, Khitsenko advanced to within 100 meters of the Germans, at which time a furious tank gun duel erupted with a company of Tiger I tanks. Khitsenko rammed one enemy tank and managed to knock out at least two Tigers tanks with deadly accurate fire from his 122mm gun. The remaining tank commanders fired a volley of main gun fire that set the offending Stalin tank ablaze, incinerating Khitsenko and his entire crew in the process. For his leadership in this action. Khitsenko was posthumously awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union medal on 29 June 1945.

2018-12-05(A) X von Marwitz vs Gerrit Gericke Russian winThis time I played this as the Russians. A quick and dirty action which was over at the start of German Turn 2 as due to his setup I could pick off 3 Tigers in the first Russian PFPh. 2018-07-11(A) Jeff B vs Elmo Menon Russian winAll Tigers were eliminated by the end of Turn 2. Without them there is absolutely no way the Germans can stand up to the Russians. Even with them the Germans have no answer for the heavily armored Russian tanks. The best bet is probably for the Germans to setup all tanks in buildings and just sit there concealed as long as possible. At best this makes for an extremely boring defensive game. At worst this one is a complete walkover.
2018-06-29(D) X von Marwitz vs Michael Koch Russian win1945 East Front action with Tigers on the German side and IS-2's on the Russian side. I had the Germans in this one and found it diffcult to come up with a good defence for the situation. My defence may have been sound, alas I overlooked one crucial location for a Russian tank from which he could unhinge my armored defence. To stand up with Tigers to IS-2's is audacious, but without Tiger support, the German infantry is in trouble. I did not contrieve to find a satisfactory solution for the problem, so my opponent won in a pretty straightforward way with his Russians.
2017-10-02(A) Michael Rodgers vs Rob Banozic Russian winGerman player started all Tigers in wooden buildings. Tigers had trouble vs IS-2 armour. Russians hid from Tigers on turn 1. After three turns, four Tigers were gone and one IS-2 was gone. German conceded soon after.
2016-11-05(A) Dan Best vs Carl Nardin German win
