Overview:
Like all the big cities at the eastern front, Torun was proclaimed a fortress and its garrison ordered to defend the city to the last man. However, on January 29th, 1945, Hitler ordered to leave the city without a fight. This was one of the few rational decision he made in the late war. Torun's garrison, numbering 20,000 men under General Ludecke, had to break through the Russian lines to join forces with the 2nd Army.Attacker: German (Elements of 12th Volksgrenadier Regiment, 31st Volksgrenadier Division)
