Overview:
While the Red Army was hammering at Pest for over six weeks, the inhabitants of Buda were still preparing for Christmas festivities, albeit subdued ones. On Christmas Day, however, they were surprised by the sudden appearance of Russian armored reconnaissance forces at the Janos Hospital, less than two miles from the Royal Palace. A company from the 1st Technical University Battalion was the first unit to clash with the Russians in Buda.Attacker: Hungarian (1st Technical University Battalion)
Defender: Russian (2nd Ukrainian Front)

2024-10-03 | (A) Alex Ashton | vs | Martin Barker | Russian win | Resigned as the Hungarian player after turn 3 after half my force was broken trying to cross row I. There didn’t seem an effective way back and from turn 2 time pressure had begun to build. The Hungarian tanks are poor and the squads were brittle. I am probably just not a good enough player to apply the order of battle effectively. One of my first attempts at an Urban Scenario setting and Martin schooled me in the use of his squads.
2024-03-05 | (A) Simon Staniforth | vs | Neil Brunger | In progress | The dice gods were not smiling on the Zrinyi in this game with 3 busted MA and not a single Smoke round to show for their efforts. Coupled with a solid Russian defence this saw the Hungarian’s attack founder before they could get into the victory building
2023-09-17 | (A) Stephen Stewart | vs | Jeff Howell | Russian win (VASL Log) | VASLeague game. Jeff is a great guy. Glad he didn't troll the setup as this scenario is pretty well scripted on how it will progress. I was the Hungarian. Loved the SSR with ML. If the players forget this, Russian win instantly. If the Hungarian forgets he has PF, Russian win. The VC are lacking as I started taking prisoners early on. The rules do not exclude prisoners from being anything but unbroken enemy units. Makes the VC kinda sketchy and the PT in question. Regardless, the game progressed with fun and excitement!! 2 rolls determined the outcome directly as a whole. So, those that say small scenarios are dicey are full of shit. this is s Meaty scenario and it takes ONE roll to open up the map. Fun game and it was close most of the way. Good weekend game with your buddy!! VASL LOG POSTED

2020-05-26 | (D) Dave Mareske | vs | Dan Best | Russian win | The bulk of the Hungarians advanced along the north getting up along the "I" row by turn 2, breaking and pinning the Russians, but both T-85s were able to take out three takes and an ATR immobilized another. Several breaks forced the Hungarians back and were still unable to cross row "I" by Turn 4. Russians had 1 T-85 left after loosing one in close combat. A close game with lots of action from the very start.

2020-01-05 | (D) Pascal Boileau | vs | Karim Drici | Hungarian win | A nice and very fun game. The Russians were overwhelmed by the Hungarians in the last turn. An undisputed Hungarian victory. My first full ASL scenario with vehicles. Many thanks to Karim for his insightful explanations !
2019-04-18 | (D) Jeff B | vs | David Murray | Russian win | 7.5 hrs | This one was non-stop excitement from start to finish. The Hungarians charged forward in the north, while sending about 1/3 of their force to circle up from the south. The Russians let them come, maintaining concealment until they had a juicy shot. The Russians suffered some early bad luck, Malfing a MA at the start of Turn 2, and breaking the HMG for good the following turn. The MA, despite attempts to do so, never returned to help in the action. The "I" row proved difficult crossing for the Hungarians however, and they weren't able to do so until Turn 3. Their attempt to pave the way with a Zrinyi met with doom when it was dispatched in CC. Without MGs the Russians were not too scared of them, but they did prove their worth by providing smoke cover and forcing the Russians out of position. To feel comfortable the Russians really need to destroy at least two of them but, keeping their fronts to the Russians and with only the one MA, I only managed to take down one. And thus this came down to the wire, with the Hungarians gaining a toehold on the eastern edge of the hospital, only to be dispatched in CC on the following Russian turn. That one-turn delay in crossing the "I" row proved too much, as the Hungarians ended with 4.5 squads to 6.5 for the Russians. Great game against a fun opponent.
2018-12-05 | (A) Scott Sherer | vs | Paul Crouse | Hungarian win | Fun city fight that came down to the last CCPh. I was able to get 3.5 squad-equivalents into B2 vs. only 2.5 for Paul, so squeaked out a close one. This scenario had many twists and turns, including losing one of my assault guns to a point-blank T-34/85 after he repaired his MA in the previous RPh, four squads simultaneously whacked in a vicious CC (3 Hungarian and 1 Russian), and a bunch of Hungarian MMC's surviving a hail of residual fire to even get into B2 to give me a chance at the end. Good times!
