Overview:

After landing on the south bank of the Yangtze, the Japanese moved to seize the vital road junction at Luodian. Encountering little resistance, the Japanese prepared to set up camp. The Chinese counter attacked the ill-prepared Japanese and heavy house-to-house fighting developed.

2023-05-03(A) Jobbo Fett vs JobboFett Chinese winA tough loss for the Japanese, with early leader losses that compounded with squads. The Chinese artillery never got going and lost access before being able to actually harass the defenders. I thought this scenario does a good job at exploring the concept of threatening an advance on a 2nd, more vulnerable, front - as well as being a good teaching experience in the proper ways of Bushido. Japanese squads need to survive as long as possible for those final turn holdouts and Close Combat kills. Otherwise, you simply run out of steam too quickly. Special shout-out goes to the Japanese crew that kept breaking and rallying and accomplishing little to nothing of note with their MMG.

2019-12-28(D) Richard Jenulis vs Steve Nicewarner Japanese winA very fun game. The Chinese are tough in this one. The OBA never made it past the SR stage. Saw a rare Nationalist Human Wave on the Japanese right flank. Came down to three last turn CC attacks.
2019-02-22(D) X von Marwitz vs Michael Koch Chinese winEarly 1937 action in China with PTO terrain NOT being in effect. A large and numerous Chinese force attacks the Japanese, who have to spread out their forces in an attempt to deny the Chinese some victory buildings. The Chinese have 80mm OBA (HE only, no Harrassing Fire), directed by an Offboard Observer. Otherwise, this one is infantry only. My Japanese were not able to inflict any damage on the entering Chinese hordes except two break results, one of which immediately rallied. Many Pins slowed the Chinese a bit, but not exactly what you need in this one. On the other hand, the Chinese OBA was shortlived and did no damage either except holding a Japanese squad with leader in place for 1.5 turns. On top, I broke and X'ed the Japanese MMG and one of the two LMGs, where FireLanes could have been very useful. Probably these first 2.5 turns tilted the game in favor of the Chinese. The Japanese somehow to reduce their effective number, which I failed to do. The main action transpired on the Japanese right flank. On the left in the 'city' there was something of a Mexican standoff. On the left, my Japanese where inevitably pushed back though I did manage to cause some frustration to the Chinese. Nevertheless, things were looking as if the Chinese would win. This is when I sprang a Banzai Charge on my left across the stream in an attempt to get one building back from the Chinese. Lady Luck disapproved and bestowed two fine DRs on the Chinese causing 2 KIA results basically obliterating the Banzai Charge and with it my chance to snatch victory from defeat. Chinese win.
(D) Jim Thompson vs Fabio Mazzucchelli Japanese win[Imported from ROAR]
