Overview:
With the Chinese 4th Phase Offensive destroying the ROK 8th Division and encircling US Support Force 21 and 3rd Battalion, 38th Infantry, a relief force of six tanks and the Security Platoon were dispatched from Hoengsong. The tank company commander was Lt. Howden, and the Security Platoon was lead by 2LT Uzzo. It was not long before they met over 200 troops in ROK uniforms. The "ROK soldiers" waved friendly, and casually approached, saying "We are friends" in English. Everyone started shaking hands. Then a "ROK soldier" threw a piece of paper at Uzzo, which demanded their surrender. The "ROKs" were Chinese in disguise! Americans opened fire on them.
