Overview:

The swampy areas of the Cotentin peninsula led Allied command to misunderstand bocage country. Only as the U.S. First Army attempted to reach the line formed by the towns of Coutances, St. Lo, and Caumont would that terrain's true nature be discovered. In its designed reconnaissance role, the 113th Cavalry Group (Red Horse) lad by Col. William Biddle was on of the first units across the Vire-Taute canal. It was assigned the task of screening Leland Hobb's 30th Infantry Division from the 7. Armee of General der Waffen-SS Paul Hausser while the 30th crossed the canal in force. After taking the town of La Goucherie, the Red Horse continued southward, maintaining the screen.
Attacker: American (113th Cavalry Group)

2021-06-19(A) Paolo Cariolato vs Andrea Pagni American winBold by-pass freeze and encirclement is the way to go in this One. Otherways tonnare bot going to break the german initian line and reinforcements Will Seal tour Doom.
2021-02-26(D) Vilis Pavulans vs Kai Glanz German winA spread out defence in depth made the advance just slow enough for the americans not to reach the buildings at the far right side. Also one heroic german squad managed to kill americans in CC and then dodge a persuing AFV, rushing back to the road on the left side to prevent the open road victory condition.
2021-02-26(A) Kai Glanz vs DrDryg German winI played this scenario twice, both times as American. Both times I lost (hard). Although I rolled not very well both imes I dont see how the Americans can win this scenario. Anyway it was fun to play and bocage makes this scenario very interesting.
2021-02-14(A) Kai Glanz vs Jim Bishop German win
2021-02-13(A) Stephen dedier vs Jim Holt American winThis one was always in question for the Americans.
I drove in down both roads with troops coming through the middle bocage.
On the first turn, the Scott malfed it's MA and rolled a 6 in the bottom half to be recalled and that was my armor leader
On M8 was abandoned after immobilization by the German mortar.
Jim spread his reinforcements out slightly favoring the American right flank
I managed to knock out the mortar crew down the center and reduce the German resistance there to a leader with an LMG.
On the last 2 turns i changed all my forces to try to take 10 building hexes down the American left with a strong presence through the middle.
Turn 5 found the Americans strong but only in possession of 5 building hexes but 3 more within easy reach (one open and the other held only by a leader, the last O1 was broken by the re-crewed M8). Unfortunately the American HS died in CC with the German squad defending R1 giving them a strong position.
Germans consolidated on their 5 and the last US turn went pretty much all for the GI's. I ran 1 M8 and 1 Stuart past BB3 stopping to fire. This broke concealment on both HS and broke one of them. Ran the 3rd Stuart into bypass so i could bet 2x squads next to the building. Their Advancing fire broke the other HS opening up that building for the GIs
I put WP on the Germans R1 and then rand a HS up next to O1 and the DM Germans to guarantee that building.
Taking out the German leader in CC gave the Americans control of the road along the left flank from end to end.
This one looked bad for the US right to the very end where some lucky rolls came into play. Jim broke most of his units into HS to spread out the defense but made panzerfausts and CC against vehicles pretty much a non-factor in the game.
Fun scenario with many ways for it to play out.

2019-12-30(A) Rich Weiley vs Dave Longworth American winI was in trouble after the first session as I had lost a couple of vehicles and was closing on the CVP cap. Second session the US could do no wsrong and I pulled off a relatively easy win.

2019-10-12(D) Andy Goldin vs Neil Stenhagen American winAs the German I set up too far forward and got defeated in detail by Neil. The setup restrictions make it easier for the American to get around your key positions and set up encirclement and a failure to rout situation. Probably better to use dummies along the front and shuffle your forces around during the first turn to set up a defense of the buildings than to try to take DFF shots on turn 1 as I did. The key play is to probably to set up the mortar (and likely the MMG) behind a hedgerow to lay down an awesome fire lane along the road which bisects the map lengthwise. The initial defense must provide time for the reinforcements to enter and set up in buildings or near the road to deny the attacker all of the possible victory conditions. I'll play this one again!
