Overview:

Having secured Hill 105-S during the day on the 22nd with the help of all three of the 1st Battalion's line companies, "Ike" Fenton, in command of B Company and the senior commander on the hill, was ordered to send A Company back to the start line, Hill 68, so as to provide a base of fire for the next day's operations. This left B and C Companies to hold against the probable In Min Gun (North Korean People's Army) counter-attack which would surely come during the night. However, before nightfall, the summit of Hil 105-S, which was devoid for the most part of trees was subjected to fires from mortars, machine guns and 76mm guns located on Hills 105-C and 105-N. This fire pinned Fenton's men in their foxholes, and made arranging proper positions for the coming night problematical.
Attacker: North Korean (Seoul City Regiment, the 78th Independent Infantry Brigade and the 25th Infantry Brigade)
Defender: American (USMC) (B Company, and 1st Platoon, C Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division)
