Overview:

While the 1st Marines were renewing their advance into Seoul from the south and southwest, they could see LtCol Taplett's 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines fighting its way southeastwards down the slopes and spurs of An-san, Hill 296 to the Marines, which ran into the western suburbs of the city. On the final two spurs the last of the KPA defenders from An-san were staging a stout stand and were unwilling to relinquish their ground to the Marines. The defenders were aided by supporting fire from Hill 105-N off to the west, which still had pockets of resistance despite claims by both the 2nd and 3rd Battalions, 5th Marines, that the hill had been cleared.
Attacker: American (USMC) (I Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division)
Defender: North Korean (Seoul City Regiment, 78th Independent Infantry Regiment and the 25th Infantry Brigade)
