Overview:

In order to interdict the Chinese supply lines, the Japanese Canton Army wished to take control of French Indochina, which had been left isolated and without direction by the defeat of France in June of 1940. Japanese troops attacked border posts from the north and attempted to disarm French garrisons. On September 23, at Na Cham, a Japanese column tried to break through to Colonial Road 4. With no precise orders from his superiors, the local commander decided not to give in and to interdict the movement. The next day, a strong Japanese attack was beaten back with heavy losses to the attackers. That night, a platoon led by Lt. Seguin left the Na Cham fort and crossed CR 4 to establish itself on the rocky outcrop of Ban-Tich, in anticipation of a Japanese attack the next day.

2024-04-28(D) Kevin Duval vs Dwayne Duval Japanese winOne mistaken Smoke placement, NA in Heavy Rain. It all came down to the final CCPh with overwhelming Japanese bodies in & surrounding the VC building.
2022-09-13(A) Jeff B vs Joe Arthur Japanese win4 hrsSlow and steady won the race here, as the Japanese decided to ignore the VC buildings comepletely and concentrate solely on clearing the road. I gave my opponent no shots, as my infantry either entered so far north as to be >16 hexes away, or hid behind trees bordering the road. I kept enough men in reserve to slowly dribble on troops each turn to keep his men on the hill in check. Rain started on Turn 2, and I thought this would be to my detriment as I could not use smoke, but it definitely was to my advantage, as most any mortar or MMG shots were greater than 16 hexes away, and thus enshrouded in misty rain. There was a small battle for Hill 714, but when the French there decided to take off west heading for the road the high ground became moot to the north. Meanwhile I felt I had enough time to AM/advance through the grain to retain concealment and limit any long range French shooting. The rain stopped halfway through the game, but then I was able to cover my men with smoke from my mortars. One of the French MMGs had malfunctioned, so these men decided to move to the road as well. By the time they got there it was back in working order. My Japanese continued to be very patient, and the French decided mostly to retain concealment. A CH from the big mortar had KIA a 447, but otherwise there were almost no breaks (let alone casualties). The rain started again, and I managed to score a few lucky AFPh or DFPh breaks later in the game, but otherwise everything was gearing up for multiple banzais over the last couple turns. On Turn 6 the Japanese kicked things off with their first, and it went about as perfectly as they could've hoped. By the end their were two more waiting to ensue, but the French figured they had enough and conceded.
2022-08-27(A) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best Vichy winOh good grief. My Japanese went for road control and got annihilated by rate of fire mortars and 9-2 directed MMG's. I couldn't pass a morale check and Dan didn't see a Rate of Fire he didn't like, which made for a slaughter fest. Honestly, don't enjoy scenarios like this.
2022-08-27(D) Dan Best vs Kermit Mullins Vichy win
2020-09-01(A) Dave Mareske vs Dennis Dowd Japanese winJapanese came on strong onto board 2 then it started to rain, then rain hard. Made all the shooting very hard and so we had lots of CC. Japanese were able to take the hill and the fortified building and eventually keep the road clear.
