Overview:

The Grossdeutschland Regiment, after some hard fighting and a harder march north, had finally taken the village of Stonne, the pivot of the German flank movement from Sedan. Exhausted, the German infantry were now the target for one of the few determined French counterattacks of the entire campaign. Supported by infantry from the 3rd Motorized Division, an element of the 3rd Armored Division hurled itself at Stonne. It promised to be a hard day for the Grossdeutschland.
Attacker: French (45ème and 49ème Bataillons de Chars de Combat, 3ème Division Cuirassée and 51ème Régiment d'Infanterie, 3ème Division d'Infanterie Motorisée)

2025-03-01(D) Todd Cox vs German win
2023-11-26(A) Shane Pask vs German winSo close! Both sides had 8 VP a the end. Neither side could hit the side of barn for the first few turns. I finally captured the chateau on turn 6 but had trouble getting into the town.
2022-12-11(A) Kevin Duval vs Dwayne Duval German winMy French made good progress until last two Turns. In the end I did not move quick enough to clinch the VC buildings on last Turn. Close, very close but failed.
2022-07-27(D) Ian Morris vs Martin Mayers German winPlayed over multiple vASL sessions. Very tense, exciting match all the way through, as a skilful attack eventually foundered on a resolute defence. My opponent conceded at the end of French turn 8 after his right flank push collapsed. Despite the strong armour on those French tanks, by the end only one mobile one was left, and that with a busted MA. Really enjoyable, superb scenario.
2022-06-04(A) Dan Best vs Kermit Mullins German win
2022-06-04(D) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best German winDan's French attacked in a huge Schwerpunkt and went after the chateau. The French tanks were very effective, but the Germans were able to KIA 11-1/2 of the French squads. By the end of Turn 5, the French conceded as their infantry were out of gas.
2021-05-15(A) Ric Hammond vs Guy Jimenez German win
2020-09-26(A) Rich Weiley vs Dave Wallace German winMy opponent had a good defence. He gave up the element of surprise with the guns by setting them up in flanking positions on the board 3 hills, which meant they were firing earlier and often as I crossed board 4. Lost too much infantry as I advanced toward the chateau and the left flank move with the green squads in trucks was also stymied. Only had about 10 squads in position to attack the chateau and 4 H39s had been knocked out by long range fire and CC, 2 Stugs were marauding through my backfield preventing stragglers from rallying and threatening my main assault from the rear. Didn't think I had sufficient strength remaining to take the chateau, let alone take buildings in the village, so I conceded in turn 6.
2020-06-16(D) Jeff B vs Phil Wentworth German win12 hrsFrench sent a horde of greenies to the west via trucks, and the rest poured in from the east. Probably the biggest fire group I'd ever seen was the result. I immediately set a couple fires around the village. Without this I don't think there is any way I could've won. The French just have too much time, too many tanks, and too many troops. I managed to knock out one tank in VBM and another from a long range HE CH from a StuG. Another French tank broke its gun. Meanwhile in the west the greenies managed to break my HMG HS. Next turn saw my fires in the east really start to spread quickly; to the point where I diverted men to make sure it didn't spread to the 3-pointer. He also sent a fair amount of troops to try and flank along the board edge, so I needed yet more troops and a StuG to make sure they didn't get far. In the west a French leader captured and destroyed my HMG, and I had to divert yet more men and another StuG to deal with this threat. This is certainly not a static defensive game. Turn 4 saw me contain the western action, while in the east the French amassed for their assault on the chateau, which had been quite well stocked with Germans by this time. Turn 5 saw the French take some moderate casualties (3 squads), as all three prongs of the attack were blunted. Turn 6 saw the same, though they did eliminate a German squad and an AT gun. Turn 7 saw more French difficulties and, with the fire forcing them to take the long route or attack through open ground, and with the chateau probably still a good 2 turns away from falling, the French called it a day. Pretty fun large scenario.
2020-05-18(D) wayne baumber vs Joel French winFrench numbers prevailed in the end, the Board 6 chateaux fell early and with it the German 9-2 leader and the 75mm INF gun. I tried to be cute with the German AFV's and failed miserably. Excellent large scenario though with the French having the edge.
2020-05-16(A) nathan wegener vs Paul Works German winI got chewed up repeatedly by the 9-2 and HMG.
Helped opponent with 5 box cars on leader MC/Rally and tank MA shots.
Nice defense spread across the board with no clear routes for attack.
2020-05-16(D) Paul Works vs Nathan Wegener German winAs Nathan notes, my 9-2 directing the HMG from the Level 3 location was a killer. It kept rate multiple times, KIA'd several units, broke quite a few others, and in one shot broke three squads in a key French stack. My StuGs all ran out of AP immediately (one did get one AP round, but no kill); so I used them to shoot at his infantry. Nathan always plays his armor well and he used it to encircle my force in the chateau. Fortunately for me, he just could not get enough firepower to make my troops in that building pay. He also ran out of leaders, which constricted him; he could not take risks with his troops that got in the chateau - if they broke, they could not be rallied. In the end he ran out of infantry.
2020-05-14(A) patrick palma vs Jack Boyle French win
2020-01-31(A) Tom Kearney vs Alan Saltzman French winThe French quickly captured the chateau and neutralized the German AT capability.
2020-01-22(A) Jeff Waldon vs Will Willow German winFtF Short Stay
