Overview:
On 15 January the “Yaslo Gorlits” operation took off with the major goal to draw away German reserves from the major Polish campaign in the north. Even so 101st Rifle Corps penetrated 20 km in two weeks in this mountain area. By February they reached the Vistula and a mobile team, under command of 12th Guards Heavy Tank Regiment Lt-Colonel Chalov, made a night dash to cross the river.
