Overview:

As part of Panzergruppe 3., the immediate first day objective of Operation Barbarossa for the 7th Panzer Division were the bridges over the Neman River at Alytus. Beyond these crossings lay the main road to Vilnius. Attacking along the Suwalki-Alytus axis, 7th Panzer was making good progress. A poor effort by the Russian 126th Rifle Division failed to slow the German advance. Desperate to slow the pace of the German assault, the Russian 5th Tank Division attempted to gather its scattered command to defend the bridges. A recon unit was sent to the west bank, where it ran into the lead German units.
Attacker: Russian (Elements of the 2nd Rifle Battalion, 5th Motorized Rifle Regiment, 5th Tank Division)
Defender: German (Lead Elements of Kradschützen Batallion 7., 7th Panzer Division, Panzergruppe 3. ‘Hoth’)

2021-02-03(A) Simon Staniforth vs Richard Webb Russian winEnd T3 the Russians have only lost a HS whilst the Germans are down to 1.5 GO squads, a leader and 1 remaining AC so they concede. Germans feel outmatched even though we used German balance. Archive and ROAR currently agree trending pro Russian
2021-02-03(D) Richard Webb vs Simon Staniforth Russian winGrim scenario for the Germans even with balance. the hex radius set up means you cant secure the flanks, very limited options for ATG set up (unless you accept X2 CA change for buildings), no . Russians set up v close to your front line
2020-11-14(D) Rob MacGinley vs Sergio Puente Russian winA small Tournament scenario - ideal for CYBER ASL PBEM
Germans have depth in town - Russian setup close and un-natural
Big Prep for Sergio - gave my men a shock that they reeled back from and never recovered - HIs flank attacks were stopped but up the guts with plenty of rust - really game over at time of reinforcements who died in a blaze of tin can glory
Game did not end early due to a typical ASL CC where many Russians died at the hands of Germans that would not surrender that last VC building
Slowly they were whittle down to the last.... German halfling who died on the sword of holding out to the end!
It was a fun game but not a close game
2020-10-29(D) patrick palma vs Jack Boyle Russian win
