Overview:

In November 1939, the Soviet Union attacked Finland. Sweden dared not engage in full scale war with its age-old enemy, but allowed volunteer bureaus to be set up. Among the first in the Swedish Voluntary Corps to see action was the 4:e Jägarkompaniet. During a reconnaissance mission in the Märkäjärvi area the company was discovered, encircled and attacked by elements of the Russian 122nd Infantry Division. - - - - During 5.5 turns nine Swedish 5-4-8 jägare are being attacked by a large number of unfortunate Russian 4-4-7's. Some of the latter have skis, but most are just slowly trudging forward in the deep snow toward their goal: the Swedish base camp.

2025-01-06(D) Jobbo Fett vs JobboFett Swedish winThe Russian's led a large assault on the left flank with some units in the center and on the right to thin out the defensive line. Unfortunately, the Swedes had the Russians dead to rights with great IFT rolls that couldn't be matched by the Russian morale checks. Although the Swedish force did have to retreat and things were a little tense as a reversal of fortune took place, the Russians simply didn't have the ability to prevent the objective from being fulfilled.
2023-05-29(D) Michael Rodgers vs Johnathan Kay Russian winRussians used HW twice, second time in forest. Cold dice for the swedes in the forest helped the Russians succeed.
2023-05-18(A) Shane Pask vs Russian winNot a fan. Russians basically have to sprint across deep snow without skis to reach the victory hex and hope enough are not shot as they cross the open ground. I thought I had no hope for most of the scenario as my troops continually ELRed and by the time a conscript rallied they had no chance to have any further effect on the battle. Extreme winter claimed my MMG early, but once I was in the woods the Swedes had few escape routes and many were eliminated for failure to rout.
In the end the Swedes had to win one of three CC with their best odds only 1:1. They had no luck (neither did the Russians except for a single CR result) so Russians won.
2021-03-09(D) Jason Nichols vs Eric Topp Swedish winRussians attacked in a human wave on turn 2 but were shot up by the Swedes to such an extent that the Russians capitulated. Lucky dice rolls for the Swedes and unlucky rolls for the Russians contributed to this. We then set up again to replay the scenario.
2021-03-09(D) Jason Nichols vs Eric Topp Russian winReplay of scenario with same setup. Russians delayed employing human wave until turn 3. Had also broken some of the defenders by then and there was less to stop them with. Swedes steadily fell back to their Alamo where the Russians needed to break a leader and squad on last turn to win. This was accomplished and the Russians came away with the win.
