2023-07-16 | (A) Paul Works | vs | Mitch Davis | | German win | | Broke up his infantry, one of his Lee's was recalled due to malf'd MA, and I got a side shot on the other to take it out. |
2022-07-08 | (D) Richard Jenulis | vs | Bill Owen | | Russian win | | Came down to the last CC of the game. |
2022-06-20 | (D) Dave Mareske | vs | Sam Tyson | | German win | | Texas Team Tournament |
2022-06-03 | (D) Øyvind Jacobsen Bjørkås | vs | Nils | | Russian win
2021-08-05 | (D) Jeff B | vs | Magnus Rimvall | | Russian win | 11.25 hrs | Fine balance between infantry and tanks in this one, taking place in a really nice playing area (including one of the best boards around - FrFA). Somewhat of a meeting engagement, as the Russians must enter and position their tanks optimally to greet the German horde, but the Russian setup is key in not allowing the onboard German infantry any open gaps. Germans came mostly up the middle, though they tested the flanks to an extent. The southern force, without tank support, running into a bit more resistance. It took until Turn 3 to wrap up a couple of the Russian speedbump squads, while both sides were fairly cautious with their tanks. It wasn't until Turn 5 that the Germans really started to make their push. It worked to their favor trading two of their tanks and another immobilized to three for the Russians, but almost half of their infantry were broken. By the end of Turn 6 however their chances were pretty well gone, having lost another tank to CC, and all but 1.5 squads broken. Really enjoyable scenario, where every piece on the board is of vital importance. Expect this one to go to the end nearly every time. |
2021-07-24 | (D) nathan wegener | vs | Tom Cvetinovich | | Russian win | | I Bid Russians as they have a bit of an advantage. Less than ideal squad placement cost me a couple squads earlier than appropriate but the delays they caused allowed my Tanks to save the day. Came down to a last turn push for the victory area where my last squad and two Lee’s held off the remaining German rush. StL2021 |
2021-06-25 | (A) Simon Staniforth | vs | | | German win | | Germans were well stocked on APCR in this one and over the middle turns wore down the Russians armour. This allowed subsequent manoeuvre to achieve encircling shots putting flight to the remaining Russian infantry |
2021-04-07 | (D) Simon Staniforth | vs | | | Russian win | | A see saw tank battle and with middish kill numbers there were plenty of bounce offs, we had malfunctions, critical hits and even a CH followed by a dud. In the end game the Germans were down to 2 tanks (1 bogged 1 immobilised as they go for the VC area) vs 3 Russian and they lacked infantry support as the Russians had delayed them throughout the game. Unable to take the necessary wood hexes the German player conceded T6 |
2021-03-25 | (A) nathan wegener | vs | John Garlic | | German win | | Forward defense mauled my infantry in the first 2 turns. However the panzer commander was up to the task and I took out 4 of the 6 Lend Lease tanks with no losses in my turn 3.
At the top of T4 with 8 tanks to 2 and plenty of time to surround and destroy the defenders in the woods my opponent conceded. |
2021-03-14 | (D) Gerry Proudfoot | vs | Tom Yetter | | Russian win | | German infantry had the upper hand until they closed on the VC area. The LEE tanks did sterling work in holding them back with HE and MG fire. The Russian infantry couldn't seem to pass a #MC or PTC in the first 5 turns and only 5 squads managed to make it back to the VC area.
The tank battle as fierce as always with Pz IIIs and Stuarts exploding but a couple of CH and an intensive fire shot allowed all three Lee tanks to take up good positions for the end game. The final German charge by tanks and infantry ended in broken squads and another dead tank. With it now all but impossible for the Germans to gain the VC area the game ended in German turn seven.
An extremely enjoyable scenario to play as either German or Russian but the Pz IIIGs are arguably "stale dated" for the time period and some should be upgraded to the more historically accurate Pz IIIH models for this time period.
Highly recommended scenario. |
2021-02-02 | (D) Jonathan Kapleau | vs | Holland, Donald | | German win
2021-01-20 | (D) X von Marwitz | vs | Gerry Proudfoot | | Russian win | | An earlier version of this is FrF56.
There are some differences between the BoF16 and FrF56 versions of the scenario. As the original FrF56 version, which has seen quite a number of plays, seemed to be quite clearly favoring the Russians according to ROAR, it was tweaked somewhat to strengthen the Germans:
They get an additional 8-0 Leader.
They get an additional Pz IIIG.
While in the original version, only the Pz IIIJs get APCR, in the BoF version, additionally the Pz IIIH and the four Pz IIIGs get APCR 5.
While in the original version, US vehicle counters are used for the Russian tanks, it is 'Russian' colored counters for the tanks in the BoF version. This would normally cause the vehicles having different types of Special Ammunition available, however the Russian Special Ammo is deleted by SSRs in each version. There is a difference, though, in the MG armament with the US tanks having fixed mount Bow MGs and the 'Russian' tanks have normal Bow MGs. In case of the M3, the FP of the US tank BMG is 4FP, in the 'Russian' version, it is only 2FP.

2021-01-18 | (D) Andy Bagley | vs | Jim Bishop | | Russian win | | We both agreed that against a competent Russian defence the Germans have a tough task here. And a competent Russian defence consists of delaying the German infantry advance, then falling back quickly to the VC woods area, while the Russian tanks remain around those same woods in close support. The Germans tried to surround the woods with their tanks, but needed to win the tank battle in order to do this, and the dice went against them. In the end they simply didn't have enough units, particularly infantry, close enough to take the woods on their last turn. |

2020-12-26 | (A) Dan Best | vs | Kermit Mullins | | Russian win
2020-12-26 | (D) Kermit Mullins | vs | Dan Best | | Russian win | | Russian defense got a lot of early successes against the German tanks. One was recalled due to the Russian Sniper and the other three were taken down by lucky hits even in hull down locations. Russian mortar had a devastating rate of fire tear which took out the German 9-1 stack. With that, the German assault was too weak to make a push against the heavily defended victory location and with all 6 Russian tanks still in action. |
2020-11-11 | (D) David Garvin | vs | Paul Washington | | Russian win | | Played Paul as part of the Canada vs USA ASL challenge between the DC Conscripts and the D-Day Dodgers ASL Club of Southern New Brunswick.
By the end of turn 6, I had destroyed all but one of Paul's tanks and I held the objective area in force. There were plenty of great turns here and stuff that makes this game great. I was able to immobilize his second to last tank in close combat and I even got an over run in that ended up breaking two squads, whom I ended up eliminating for Failure to Rout.
Paul was able to get some very good rate tears on me especially with his tanks on my Stuarts.
All in all a very fun game. |
