Overview:
The 5th Mechanised Corps of the Russian army was reformed on 8 September 1942 under the command of Major General Mikhail Volkov. The corps was mostly equipped with British Lend-Lease tanks, and on the 31st of October consisted of 2 T-34 tanks, 78 Matilda II infantry tanks, and 117 Valentine tanks. From the 6th of December the corps was part of the 5th Tank Army and was tasked with exploiting the breakthrough in Operation Little Saturn. Ahead of them were the last remnants of the Hungarian Second Army, augmented with a few German tanks.Attacker: Russian (Elements of 196th Infantry Division)
