Overview:
The west end of Vernon was mopped up by D Company, 4th Somerset, who then proceeded to clear the valley, destroying multiple German FlaK units in the process that had been siting the crossings. Reinforced by two more companies, they turned their attention to clearing the high ground up to 1,200 yards north of the village.Attacker: British (Elements of 4th Somerset and 1st Worchestershire Battalions, 43rd Wessex Division and the 9th Field Artillery Regiment and 15/19th Hussars)
