Overview:

Trying to escape its encirclement, the Alpini Corps constantly had to fight off blocking forces of Russian indantry and raiding partisans, as well as raiding armored forces. On January 15th, the most dangerous raid of all occurred, when tanks and riders from an armored brigade of the 3rd Tank Army attacked the town of Rossosch, where the headquarters of the Alipini Corps was situated. If the headquarters was captured, te whole retreating column would be thrown intto disarray. Men from the headquarters itself fought the Russians, holding them off just long enough for the ski battalion Monte Cervnio to come to their defense. . .

Italians were able to exit the HQ off board along the east edge, leaving the Russians with an unwinnable CVP tally to contend with.

2023-06-10(A) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best Russian winSecond playing of this scenario and have won it once as the Italians and lost it this time around. My Eastern Italians were destroyed by Turn 4 and my western force was pushing the Russians back hard. Tank fight went against my Germans as it always does in this scenario. Stugs struggle against the T-34's even with HEAT. Scenario is a bit contrived and forces the outcome. If the Alpini leaders can get to Board 42, then the Italians should win. But if they can't, the Russians will win as it was in our case as the Russians focused on killing the Alpini leaders for the win. Glad not have to play this one ever again.
