Overview:
Operation HUBERTUS, the final effort to capture the Red October Factory complex (and thus Stalingrad itself) was launched in the early morning with a massive artillery barrage and concentrated Stuka attacks. Soon thereafter, German pioneers and infantry stormed the Martenovskii Shop from two directions. The German High Command, fully aware that failure meant the impending Russian winter, dwindling supply lines and declining morale would likely halt offensive operations in the theatre, placed all hope in this one final push.Attacker: German (Infanterie-Regiments 179, 208, 226, Jäger-Division 100 and Pioneer-Batallion 179, Infanterie Division 79)
