2023-06-24(D) Andy Bagley vs Magnus Rimvall Japanese winPlayed this again as the "mystery scenario" at Double One 2023. Didn't know in advance so had forgotten much of the Japanese setup I used previously. Thought I was losing it around turns 4 ad 5 as the Americans brought their tremendous firepower brought to bear, and were winning all the CCs. But I just managed to managed to hang on by shifting units around to keep concealment and using the 'bend but don't break' characteristics of Japanese squads. In the end, the Americans needed to capture two single-hex multi-level buildings on their final turn; I occupied both floors so they could only do it by killing the units upstairs in Prep Fire, which they failed to do. A really close and very enjoyable game.
2023-06-24(D) David Ramsey vs Simon Taylor American winHuge American firepower and not very far to run for the Japanese. I struggled with this one and can't offer very much advice!
2023-06-24(A) Indy Lagu vs Wayne BaumberD American winNot a lot of fun. The US seem to have overwhelming FP
and lots of turns in which to extricate the IJN.

Perhaps my opponent was a bit inexperienced defending
with the Japanese? I doubt it...I thought he did a good job
of dulling the US as much as possible.

The Japanese had the balance (one less MMG for the US),
but that didn't seem to do anything.

I might play this again, to see if there's something we missed.
2023-06-24(D) Paul Legg vs Mick Allen Japanese winDouble One 2023 - Main Round 2 - Think the Americans must attempt the breach. Mick decided it looked too risky and sent his reinforcements around the top. I left a hip hs with dc in the upper level of the top single victory buliding which Mick failed to search out, but it wasn't needed as I also held the two southermost buildings. Due to spreading fire there was tons of smoke, the original burning building even collapsed due to gusts which helped spread the fire. Woukd like to see how this played when the breach is attempted.
2022-11-24(D) Andy Bagley vs Neil Brunger Japanese winAs close as they come - Japanese won on the final CC DR of the game.
Americans advanced slowly, using their firepower to blast the Japanese, although their FT struggled to get into the action. Reinforcements from the east made it to the rubbled wall sections and traded shots with the Japanese from their, but dared not advance further against a fire lane down the road and my HMG in a steeple. Eventually, having weakened to Japanese significantly, the Americans made a final rush on the last two turns, including a successful infantry overrun that allowed them to reach the last building they needed for victory. Two other CCs succeeded but the last one failed, leaving the Americans one building short of victory.
