Overview:

In what had become standard procedure for the Wehrmacht, the CITADEL offensive started late in the afternoon with a series of limited offensive moves designed to “blind” the forward Soviet units by capturing their observation posts and some strongpoints. This reconnaissance-in-force was also intended to supplement other intelligence by locating major defensive positions, and possibly open a lodgement against them for exploitation.
Attacker: German (III./Grenadierregiment, Panzergrenadierdivision Großdeutschland)
Defender: Russian (151st Guards Rifle Regiment, 52nd Guards Rifle Division)

2023-03-05(A) Dan Best vs Kermit Mullins Russian win
2023-03-05(D) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best Russian winThis scenario is really about Mines. The German Player will face a ton of them and had better prepare mentally to lose a few squads to this nemesis. The Russians have next to no manpower and so must rely heavily on their fortifications and Mines to slow down and halt the German attack. If the Germans get close, it's over. I was fortunate to keep all but one squad away from my units. But one German 4-6-8 with a Hero got into my trenches, but then got stalled in a Melee that didn't end until it was too late. A single German 9-1 went into close combat on the final turn with my pillbox but was unsuccessful and ending in a Russian victory.
2022-12-14(D) Ian Morris vs Steve Hunt German winEntertaining game, not using my allotted mortar kept the mystery alive for my opponent, who was convinced I had received the extra minefields. Thought I had the game in the bag, but two HoBs on my elite troops resulted in two surrenders ! The last Russian died in the last CCPh of the last turn, so a close game.
(D) Jim Thompson vs Vince Lewonski Russian win[Imported from ROAR]
