Overview:

The Battle of Poland was essentially over, but some units continued to fight. The "Polesie Independent Group" under General Kleeberg was operating in the area of northwest Kock, and General Otto of the German 13th Motorized Infantry Division was tasked with dealing with these "demoralized" Poles. Nevertheless, the Poles mounted several counterattacks, forcing Otto to commit more and more troops. Two such counterattacks took place on 5 October, one involving soldiers with bayonets and horse-mounted cavalry near the village of Poznan.

2024-08-17(D) Jobbo Fett vs RootinPutin Polish winThis scenario forced us to learn a lot of new rules, largely due to the use of White Wagon counters without having crews, and the subsequent question of control and movement. As it turns out, you'll want to brush up on INHERENT DRIVERS, Capturing a Vehicle in CC, the various modifiers to the rolls therein, and how capturing such units affects the unit making the attempt.

Ultimately, the Germans put up a strong defense that nearly killed everyone and, truth be told, we'd played this with a few omissions due to not knowing the rules and the result was a German victory after breaking/killing nearly all the Poles, and simply needing to (reclaim a wagon and) move offboard. The scenario is particularly tight in that regard, making the Wagons uninteresting to use. The Poles should probably Charge or Cavalry Wave if they can against any vulnerable Germans. Either way, I marked this as a win for the Poles as they did manage to enter CC with one of the Wagons and a hypothetical roll we did after the fact would've killed it.

In the end, this could've been more fun, but the scenario needs a bit more work to achieve such a result.

But the Germans are quite well equipped to hold the line for those 4 turns with well placed fire lanes. In our scenario, the Poles were essentially slaughtered trying to cross the open ground and grain hexes. The were forced to dismount, which slowed their advance considerably. Very tough game on the Poles and really questioning how they actually can win this one without the German player rolling terribly. Make sure you're the Germans on this one and wish your Polish buddy lots of luck there pal!
