Overview:
Untested Scenario-available at GS Resources Section, Special Rules for US Rangers in User Files: At daybreak on the morning of 9 November, Col Greer, the commander of the 18th Infantry Regiment made his plans for the assault on the town of St. Cloud. St. Cloud was garrisoned by elements of the 16th Tunisian Regiment and the 68th African Artillery Regiment and they were proving to be both stubborn and lethal in their defense. The attack would be spearheaded by a company of the 1st Ranger Battalion, led by Lt Klefman. The attack jumped off at 0700 hours and the Rangers advanced to within 400 yards of St. Cloud when they were raked by machine gun and artillery fire. Lt Klefman led one platoon in a bold charge across open ground while the other two platoons flanked the French positions. Shouting at the top of their lungs, the Rangers burst into the French positions with weapons blazing and grenades. Lt. Klefman, out in front, pitched a grenade into a French MG nest - but not before a burst was fired that riddled Lt. Klefman. He died almost instantly. Fixing bayonets, the remaining Rangers stormed the French in a wild charge cutting them down. The furious attack by the Rangers was costly to the defenders with dead and wounded Algerians strewn all around the strongpoint. Elsewhere the men of the 18th Infantry followed the Rangers example and were finally able to break into the town where numerous small actions broke out all through the town.Attacker: American (1st Ranger Battalion)
Defender: Vichy French (16th Tunisian Regiment with 68th African Artillery Regiment)
