Overview:

Through out the day, the drive of the 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, while it had been slowed by stubborn resistance, had packed too much power for the Germans, who fought to hold Hill 192 and their lines near St-Georges-d'Elle. The Germans, in a last desperate attempt to halt the US advance, were forced to commit Fallschirm Sturmgeschütz-Brigade 12, Fallschirm Aufklärungs-Kompanie 3, and their last reserves, Fallschirm Pionerie-Abteilung 3, in a last ditch counterattack north along the heavily-treed road towards St-Georges-d'Elle in the hopes of catching the Americans off-guard...

2013-12-14(A) Steve Bowen vs RS American winOne of the two or three most imbalanced ASL scenario I've ever played. There are 2 results here on the Archive showing German wins but they are the same game reported by both players. German armor is channeled up the road and Allied OBA is absolutely devastating. Another big problem with the design is that it requires the Germans to control a long stretch of road but the Yanks are given a HIP MMC would can easily hide and then reveal at the end of the game to negate German road control.
2013-12-14(D) Ralph Shoukry vs SB American win
2013-11-16(A) Jonathan Davis vs Voss Graham American winThe left hand flank is a very tough nut to crack. That forest is behind bocage and up a level, giving him LOS over the hindrances and making it 6MF just to get in there. I don't think this scenario is winnable against a competent defence.
2012-10-01(A) Michael Rodgers vs Pete Shelling American win
2012-02-12(A) Fred Ingram vs Chris Bryer German winCame down to 2 hexes of close combat. I had 3-1 infantry odds in both hexes (wirh a vehicle there as well in case the infantry attack did not work well)

No ambush - so Chris's only out was to try for a withdrawal. Did not work, but I had forgotten about that possibility and could have positioned a few extra units to prevent him from being able to withdraw into a victory hex.

Very enjoyable opponent. learned a few more things about fighting in bocage.

The highlight of the game was when Chris rolled snakes on my kill stack in woods with his OBA. That took out the 9-2 and (3) 4-4-7/LMG units. I guess I cannot complain as I had a few lucky moments (he X'd out a BAZ at a critical time and then I evaporated the other half squat with a BAZ from the 105mm stug
