Overview:

12th Cavalry Regiment pushed out of the mountains on a southwest track to Highway 2, with 2nd Squadron jumping ff on schedule. At 0930, still 800 yards short of their objective, they came under heavy rifle and machine gun fire from the thick woods, while a patrol silenced machine gun fire from the north. Meanwhile, the mortar platoon from Troop D, in support of the 1st Squadron, fired upon the village of Lonoy. The Japanese immediately responded with fire from a cleverly concealed 105mm gun about 600 yards from the Regimental Observation Post. Believing they had silenced the gun, the 2nd Squadron moved out along the road to Lonoy only to be hit by tree bursts when the gun opened up again from a mere 300 yards, which killed five men and wounded fifteen others from the Regimental Command Post. Troop G and a Regimental anti-tank platoon immediately turned and attacked north to destroy the gun.

2026-08-31(D) Jeff B vs Jeff Roloff Japanese win1.5 hrsAmis were probably a bit too aggressive here, losing a full squad and BAZ on Turn 1 running into the hidden ART. The remaining HIP Japs all sprung up to try and hold off the Amis in the west. The eastern force did what the Amis should do from the get-go: assault move/advance. With a whopping 7 turns and only needing to move 7-8 hexes to accomplish their easy VC, they should be doing this with their entire force. Some terrible advancing fire allowed the Japs to only have to break and run one crew/MMG (already broken using sustained fire). Amis continued to be overly aggressive on Turn 2, suffering a staggering 5.5 broken squads and one squad KIA. Only one of the three CCs they initiated went in their favor, eliminating and capturing the other crew/MMG, but allowing the gun crew to sneak behind them setting up an encirclement opportunity, and another squad to get behind the lines in the east. When their broken 7-0 failed to rally, he and the 1.5 squads with him were surrounded to force a surrender. Meanwhile the encirclement vs. the 2 squads/9-1 was only partially successful, breaking one of the squads. But the subsequent sniper roll finished the job by breaking the remaining squad. With literally half their squads now eliminated, the Amis threw up the red flag. Give me the Amis every time in this one.

2026-06-19(A) Michael Rodgers vs Cary Harris American winJapanese player was not strong.
2026-02-08(D) Will Willow vs Randy Shurtz American win
2025-12-23(A) Eben Johnson vs Ernie Cameron Japanese winI entered my U.S. forces along the left flank; the IJA was spread across the map. My tactics were good and my actions reasonable. All was looking up for the Americans, but I could not hit a thing, pass a MC, rally, throw smoke, or survive sniper checks. After my turn 6 AFPh, I sounded an orderly retreat. Fun scenario and opponent.
