Overview:
In July 1944 Allied Southeast Asia Command (SEAC) conceived a plan to assault the Burmese capital by sea, however, the command lacked the amphibious and naval resources to mount what came to be known as Operation DRACULA. By April Allied fortunes had changed in the Burma Theater. The Japanese were losing by attrition, and enough naval assets arrived from European Theaters to make a large-scale operation to capture of Rangoon feasible. Before the Royal Navy could enter the mouth of the Rangoon River, a battery of fortified heavy guns on Elephant Point had to be silenced.Attacker: Gurkha (3rd Gurkha Parachute Battalion, 50th Indian Parachute Brigade)
Defender: Japanese (Burma Army Area remnants)
