Overview:

The main line of defense in Libya was a natural bottleneck along the coast at Mersa el Brega, with the sea on one flank and an extensive salt marsh on the other. The British mined and wired this line extensively. Rommel launched a full scale assault on Mersa el Brega which breached the outer British defenses, then bogged down in the face of dogged resistance. The Germans paused to regroup in the swirling dust, and at 1700 hours came on again. . .

2020-07-25(D) Michael Rodgers vs Andy Beaton British winAfter eight turns of PBEM play, the German conceded because of CVP lost.
2020-03-07(D) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best British winWow...an epic game between Dan Best and myself. Dan's Schwerpunkt hit me on the south board edge and a bloody fight ensued. Dan's 10-2 and 2 squads were KIA'd with a lucky shot. A grueling smack down as Dan and I traded body blows until he no longer had enough exit DVP to win. Great game.

2018-12-12(A) Jeff B vs Scott Sherer German win10 hrsThe plan was to leave all but one vehicle offboard until I discovered both guns. Considering that wasn't until Turn 5 it started to dawn on me that I probably picked the right side to enter (far northwest). I sent my amoebic blob of HS forward while my 10-2 and kill stack positioned themselves on the first hillock. Unfortunately he was wounded on Turn 2 and a HMG broken. The HMG would soon come back, but the 10-2 was supplanted by a lowly 8-1, who would do an admirable job of leading the machine gunners the rest of the game. It is amazing the power of MGs in the desert, and the Germans have a lot of them. Any British target that dared show their face was usually summarily dealt with promptly. Throughout the whole game the Germans only suffered one casualty, A full squad KIAd by an ATR shot if I recall correctly, and in fact suffered very few breaks. Turn 2 saw my sappers move in to attempt to clear a small path through the wire. As luck would have it they were successful the very next turn, and this emboldened me to bring on one more vehicle. My Stukas proved an excellent deterrent to British repositioning, and I didn't lose any until Turn 6 (and this was due to a busted MG). By Turn 4 I was pushing onto the first sand dune. Turn 5 saw a Stuka wipe out the British 9-1 and HMG squad as they tried to get into the battle. With 10 turns the Germans could afford to prep their MGs and mortars, grind forward with the rest, and clean up in DFPh with the addition of the Stukas. It looked like a cakewalk early, but the Brits did manage to reposition themselves to cause the Germans just enough pause where I thought the exit victory could be in jeopardy. But there was just no standing up to the Germans might, and breaking in the desert is maybe even worse than breaking at night. On the last turn the Brits had less than a handful of good order units, and all of them were out of range or LOS enough to allow a minimum of a 24 VP exit. I found the desert to be a bit of a grind, and am glad to be moving on to other fronts again.
2018-12-12(D) Scott Sherer vs Jeff B German winJeff's comments pretty well sum things up. The German firepower was just too much for the Brits to overcome. Liked this scenario a bit more than Khamsin, but just not that into the DTO. Maybe we'll try it again later.

2013-12-14(A) Richard Carter vs Dave Clemons British winMy first foray into the Desert. Great fun. I tried to plow through the mines w/ my sappers and lost two vehicles too early. Not quite enough to make the final exit vp's.
