Overview:

Following the disaster at the Sittang River in February, the troops defending Burma against the Japanese invasion fell back toward Rangoon. And from there the 7th Armoured Brigade was rushed to the rapidly collapsing front. The experienced "Desert Rats" quickly discovered that the Japanese lacked a truly effective anti-tank weapon. The 7th briefly checked the Japanese momentum, but could not be everywhere. Daybreak on the 6th of March found them moving to yet another hot spot. Suddenly, Japanese guns brought forward during the night opened fire. After the morning mist dissipated, the British moved to knock them out.

2016-01-05(D) Bill Brodie vs Eric Topp Japanese winThere are only really three options for the British, down the road, through the rice paddies, or in the gap to the west of the road. I set up to look as if my defence was based on the road and paddies, but had three HIP half squads covering the west approach. Sure enough he went that way. His infantry did manage to overwhelm the one AT gun there (with some loss) but the Japanese AT guns are relatively easy to push around, so I pushed one over to cover the gap. I also moved some infantry to surround him. Anything that broke could not rout. When I broke his 9-1, squad a half squad with a point blank 6 flat shot, he knew they would die for failure to rout, and conceded. His 10-2, MMG and squad were also surrounded, and he knew it would be hard to dig them out. He did have three tanks and a carrier to help do this, but still did not think he could get out of the hole.
