Overview:

For thirty minutes the Luftwaffe hammered the airfield at Maleme, concentrating on the AA positions near the mouth of the dry Tavronitis. Certainly the Bofors gunners at Maleme had an unenviable task. They had, of necessity, to be sited well forward on the edge of the field where concealment was practically impossible, and now dust and smoke obscured their vision. Thrown into confusion by the furious air attack, the New Zealand troops stationed to protect the guns and the British gunners themselves barely fired upon the descending gliders carrying the 3rd Company under Leutnant von Plessen. At 0715, the first glider touched ground and the first German squad came out firing.
Attacker: German (Abteilung von Plessen, Bataillon I, Sturm Regiment 1)

2022-07-25(A) Tommi Lehtinen vs M T New Zealand / British winA wind change forced the gliders to enter from the East. German took light casualties on landing (one glider was destroyed in a crash and two damaged by the final defensive fire). Germans got stuck on wires (note: landing gliders end up _under_ the wire, B26.42, not on top as we played) and ended up being shot to pieces without ever getting even to a hex of a single gun.

This scenario is very hard for Germany if you try to use firepower to dislodge to defenders as they have more than enough firepower to make German advance difficult. If I would be playing this again as Germans, I would land all my gliders on top or next to the guns, damn the casualties on landing, would advance on the gun emplacements to close combat the crews and try to get the possession of the guns before the defenders could react.
2022-07-25(D) M T vs T.L. New Zealand / British winA Wind Change result on the first German turn changed the whole game completely, as the Germans now had to make up new Glider landing plans on the spot. They managed a landing with relatively few casualties, but after that were cut up by defender fire and good ANZAC rolls in close combat, throwing in the towel after their fourth Turn.

All in all this one looks like rough going for the Germans. They must play very aggressively in the first turns to take full advantage of the Dust LV Hindrance. Meanwhile the New Zealanders have almost as much men as the Germans, five leaders, a good amount of SW and the powerful three Bofors guns, while also enjoying an Ambush advantage in being Stealthy. While I think the scenario is interesting, I must say the gameplay experience would probably benefit if the defending force was somehow reduced - quantitatively or quality wise.

2020-08-18(A) Dwayne Duval vs Kevin Duval German winGliders landed directly on top of enemy positions and the glider hindrance and TEM gave the Germans enough protection to mass up their forces to storm the final Gun.
