Overview:

101st Airborne forces holding "Hell's Highway" were in an intense battle with German forces when a crippled British Sherman tank, which had dropped out of column due to mechanical issues, came charging in -- at five miles per hour. Afterward, when trying to thank him, tank commander James McCrory said, "When in doubt, lash out." His words became the unofficial motto for the 1st Battalion.
Attacker: German (1034th and 1036th Infanterie Regiments)
Defender: American / British (1st Battalion, 502nd PIR and unexpected armor support from 15th/19th Hussars)

2024-06-23(D) Indy Lagu vs Simon Taylor American / British win
2024-06-21(A) Indy Lagu vs Alex Ashton German win
2024-06-20(A) Indy Lagu vs Nick Ranson German winThe first of 3 playings of this scenario for me at Double One.

This scenario was one of the first ones I ever played. I lost as the
US/Brit due to a foolish setup and the fact that my opponent (I don't
even remember who it was) thoroughly trashed me.

Nick wanted to defend. He set up a couple of squads one hex
behind the hedge-line and attempted to entrench. He didn't get
any luck with his rolls and my MG nest in the upper level of 17O3
did nothing but cause the US pain.

German win in 4 turns.

The second playing was Alex Ashton. He's relatively new, so I let
him choose sides and he took the US/Brits (like Nick did). I deployed
lots to try the HS rush, which caught Alex off guard a bit.

In the end, the Germans were too numerous.

German win in 5.

Third and final match was with Simon Taylor. He's coming back to the
game after a bit of a hiatus. He wanted to attack, so I had the US/Brits.

Simon played well...one could hear the rust on his ASL wheels. He managed
to keep a large German fire group through the grain and hedge line.

I was lucky enough to have a couple of key foxholes on the GG hex row, and
Simon had to run guys through a veritable wall of residual. Of course it came
down to a leader who was laughing at morale checks and PTCs. And of
course the leader fell to a K/2 result in the last hex before exiting.

It's a really good scenario from an excellent series of scenarios. I highly
recommend it. Given I played it 3 times in quick succession, I may give it
a miss for a while now....
2024-04-08(A) M T vs V.K. German winThe initial attack got off really well but my advance stalled a bit mid-game. In the end the game was decided only on the last Turn, with a really good PFPh Phase paving the way for victory. My opponent did very well, managing to stay in the game and contest it right to the end despite rolling quite a few boxcars along the way.
