Overview:

By the end of May 1940, the catastrophic unfolding of the battle for France caused the Allies to evacuate Norway. Nevertheless, it was decided to take Narvik in order to close the campaign on a victory and lessen the earlier humiliations. On the 28th, after an artillery barrage, a company of the 2nd Battalion of the Podhalansha Light Infantry and a pair of H-39s attacked along the coastal road to secure the town of Ankenes and thus control the Beisfjord south of Narvik.
Attacker: German (2.Kompanie (reinforced), 137th Gebirgsjäger Regiment and Marine Battalion Freitag-Loingholen/Strosstruppe Rieger)
Defender: French (2nd Battalion, Chasseurs de Podhale/2nd Battalion HQ and 342ème C.A.C.C./ 4th Battalion Chasseurs de Podhale)

2023-06-25(D) Shaun Andrews vs Peter Palmer German winI had the game in the bag and didn't know it. Thought I needed one more building so engaged in close combat. I lost the CC giving my opponent the CVP to win and lost the game. I need to go back to school and learn how to count.
2023-05-17(A) Craig Renier vs Neal Ekengren French winThe French took a beating from the simple German mortar which kept rate and gained CHs. A few other good shots kept the French onboard forces at bay. However, the majority of the French attackers moved over the hill primarily out of LOS, including the French AFVs. This path was slow going with the mud, but with heavy FP approaching, the Germans withdrew into the buildings covering open ground that needed to be crossed. The French AFVs stayed out of sight in order to avoid the potential loss of CVPs. On the final turn, the French were able to break one of the key defenders. On movement, a French squad made a move towards an empty building which required crossing multiple open ground hexes in front of a 9-2 leader. It took 5 shots from multiple directions to finally break the attacker. This, unfortunately, weakened the defensive perimeter leading to the newly broken defender. A French squad crossed through a Fire Lane causing the MG to malf and then successfully passed through PBF putting themselves in position to take control of the final building hex needed for a victory.
2023-04-14(A) walter mcwilliams vs Marc Grad German winA Bitter Ender 2023 game against Marc during Friday open gaming. Neither of us had ever played it and being a loved classic we decided to give it a try. We rolled for sides, and I got the Germans,

Marc was hyper aggressive on the early turns and it cost him on the German right near the three-hex building where I bagged some prisoners but that attack forced me to shift my forces. His attack in the center succeeded in capturing half of the short building, but his VBF tank bogged and the other fell victim to the AT gun I had placed behind the wall.
Disaster struck when a concealed 9-2 and 468 won ambush against the French in the bypass hex and rolled an 11 on the attack roll. The French succeeded in CR the 9-2 and he died on the wound dr.
Marc's right flank attack penetrated but never crossed the street as the AT gun and MMG met them with a wall of led.
On turn 5 the remaining 468 in melee managed to slay the still bogged tank and the CVP was reached.
2021-10-24(D) Dwayne Duval vs Kevin Duval German winUsed French Balance. The German defenders enjoyed an afternoon of target practice, gaining the 19 CVP for the win, while the French only had 5 of the needed building hexes controlled.
2021-05-23(A) Vic Lauterbach vs JM German winSuper close and exciting scenario. The MMC with the ATR got one H39 before being OVR and broken by the other! The 9-2, a 468 and the 228 denied O5 and P4 to Jim until the last turn while a 468 held N2 in a Melee until the end. Jim stayed well below the CVP cap but I broke enough MMC to slow the French assault down (and mud helped), so he fell a building short.
2021-04-25(A) Gus Ingenluyff vs French winExcellent scenario. French won by just keeping within the CVP cap. It could have easily gone either way.
2021-03-04(A) Jason Nichols vs Rob MacGinley German winGermans managed to delay the French long enough to prevent the capture of more than three buildings and the 9-2 leader with a squad and LMG on the hill inflicted a lot of casualties on the French. A lucky shot with an ATR immobilised a tank. The German ATG malfunctioned on its first shot and was permanently disabled when repair was attempted. Germans reached the 19 CVP cap when the 9-2 superman KIA'd a squad and leader with snakes in the German Prep on Turn 6.
2021-03-03(D) X von Marwitz vs Lars-Peder Jensen German winAn old classic, this scenario depicts an early war West Front action in muddy terrain. It has been recently republished as ASL238 in Croix de Guerre 2nd edition (without modification from the original design).

A full AAR of my game as the attacking French can be found at GameSquad forum in the following thread:

http://www.gamesquad.com/forums/index.php?threads/j44-asl238-audacity-aar.160595/

I had captured 14 of 15 building locations along with his ATG, his 9-2 and some other units and equipment, the sole German survivors being a 8-1/468. The game came down to the last CCPh and the last DR in which my opponent needed a 6 or less to bust my CVP cap. He conveniently rolled Snakes...
2021-02-23(D) Andrew Young vs Robert Oler German winRobert had a great defense as the Germans. He saw the places where he needed to be on each turn. His sniper screwed me a ton, haha. It felt tough as the French for me with the mud and the "tight" avenue to the buildings needed. I'd play it again.
2019-09-30(D) Michael Rodgers vs Magnus Rimvall German winI think the French need some luck to win this scenario. The French must attack through mostly open ground and mud, while the Germans start concealed and mostly in wooden buildings. I lost both tanks, one to the ATG and the other to CC, which contributed to losing on turn five by hitting the CVP cap.

2012-02-10(D) Andy Beaton vs Tom West German winSlowly ground down the Germans, but took too many losses, finished by a tank killed with snakeeyes.
Fun scenario.
2010-01-23(D) John Van Natta vs Brandon M. French winThe Germans misread the victory conditions but still managed to make a close game of it. The German MMG went on two ROF tears and wiped out two stacks of French. The battle went down to wire with the French retaking the last building hex in the final turn.
2007-03-07(D) Bill Brodie vs Simon Spinetti German winClose game, but the French melted away on the last turn.
