Overview:

Believing the Russians to be too weak to launch any winter offensive after their huge losses, the Germans left only outposts along the Donets River while the main units sought shelter in the rear areas. Toward the end of January, the temperature dropped to -30 degrees Fahrenheit and the Russians were ready. Leading the attack would be crack Siberian Ski Troops. . .
