Overview:

On the northern shoulder of the Bulge, the American positions near Elsenborn Ridge had held firm after the initial German onslaught. The newly arrived 1st U.S. Infantry Division dug in near the villages at the southern end of the ridge. Their task was to block German efforts to regain control of the road to Stoumont to restore contact with Kampfgruppe Peiper. Day and night on the 20th, II SS-Panzerkorps struck at the American lines near Butgenbach and elsewhere. Early on the 21st, Standartenfuhrer Hugo Kraas, Commander of the 12th SS-Panzer Division, personally directed a force to make the decisive attempt to break open the U.S. position. . .

2024-01-07(A) Ron Garcia vs Darryl M. German (SS) winMy friend and I played this one without the errata. Six extra squads would make this scenario totally unbalanced in favor of the Americans. I don't think I've ever seen such a massive change in a scenario before. Be that as it may, my Germans had a tough time pulling off the victory on the top of turn 5.

The scenario allows a variable OB. My friend chose option 3 only. I chose options 1, 3, and 4. He placed all his AT Guns near the exit locations with bazookas supporting any gaps. The defense was very good. I probed likely AT Gun locations with a bunch of HS, and only moved my AFV's forward when I was sure their flanks were covered. Since the Guns were so far back, I only found one using that strategy. That one was key as it allowed me to open up the right flank. A slow push over the R5 hill finally broke the defenses over there on turn 4.

We both thought this was a nice, tight scenario. Well worth a play. BTW, had we used the errata, I would have failed miserably. Some tanks may have made it off, but my infantry would have been torn up, and I doubt any would have exited.
2022-04-23(A) Ian Morris vs Martin German (SS) winReally tight, fun scenario. Thought I was going to lose right up until the last turn when I won with 38 VP.
2014-05-14(D) Richard Carter vs Scott Holst German (SS) winScott won w/ exactly 32 VP exited. really fun scenario. Variable OOB for each side.
2003-11-20(D) John Garlic vs Paul Kenny American win[Imported from ROAR]
1998-03-01(A) Peter Palmer vs John Knowles American win
