Overview:

As the blitzkrieg began, Allied headquarters across the Low Countries and France scrambled to understand and react to the situation. After two days of combat, cavalry forces of 2e Armèe withdrew from the Ardennes region in a rout. 9e Armèe's 1e Division Légère de Cavalerie and 4e Division Légère de Cavalerie were ordered to move to cover the Meuse crossings. In conjunction, Belgian engineers were ordered to destroy all bridges across the Meuse. The 4e DLC crossed over the Meuse bridges, leaving the regiment's d'Autos-Mitrailleuse as covering forces for the withdrawal. The crossing at Yvoir was wired for demolition and the last few Allies remaining on the opposite bank in the area were preparing to traverse the bridge. As the retreating rearguard approached the bridge, they were overtaken by the lead German vehicles. Belgian Lieutenant René de Wispelaere was in charge of demolishing the bridge in the face of imminent capture.

2026-01-31(D) nathan wegener vs Wes Vaughn French / Belgian winBoth 25LL and ATR got kills German was out of armor by turn 4. Enough smoke to provide cover for a couple squads but the French infantry held out.
2026-01-31(A) Andy Goldin vs Stephen Worrel French / Belgian winWO2026. Stephen's AT guns knocked out both of my 75* tanks by Turn 2, which made it impossible for me to smoke his positions on the far side of the river. It took me a couple turns to clear the near side of the river of his infantry and get set for the infantry to cross. A sleaze freeze of the LMG putting fire on the bridge by my PSW and well placed smoke by the engineers helped me get two squad equivalents across with my 8-1. The bridge blew up while the rest of my infantry was trying to cross, killing two engineer squads and isolating my Germans on the far side. My engineer squad and leader eliminated his elite squad and leader in CC while also getting killed. That was followed by his light tanks overrunning the couple of HS which were still by the bridge, eliminating them as well.
Overall a fun scenario which played essentially the same as the historical action. If I play again, I'll just run all the vehicles across the bridge on Turn 1 or 2 to distract the French while my infantry attempt to cross as that will help me beat the the bridge detonation.
2026-01-07(A) Tom Kearney vs Nelson Harris French / Belgian win2 hrsThe Germans started out strongly with the armored cars getting across the bridge and attempting to secure the far side. Several times German MMC’s made it across, with help from MkIV SMOKE, but each time they were thrown back. Just as the French we about to break their reserves arrived. A viscous back and forth on the bridge with overruns and CC’s allowed the French to barely hold on. This was an excellent scenario!
2025-12-14(D) Dan Best vs Kermit Mullins German win3 hrs
2025-12-14(A) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best German win3 hrsMy Germans managed to get two armored cars and three squads and an 8-1 leader across the bridge. By game end, all of my armored cars and both MKIV's were knocked out. One of the French tanks was knocked out, but my boys that got across were able to hang on for the win. The French Hero failed to denotate the DC and then was KIA'd when he tried to move to the DC location to auto detonate it. Fun scenario, but lady luck was definitely singing in German.
