Overview:

On December 19, elements of the German Panzer Division 2 began probing Noville, taking the strategic high ground around the village and bringing its defenders, Team Desobry of CCB, 10th Armored Division, under fire. The 1st Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment was sent to reinforce Team Desobry, and the paratroopers immediately joined the tankers and armored infantrymen in a counterattack to retake the higher terrain. The counterattack bumped into a German attack that was just jumping off, and both sides ground to a halt. As darkness fell, the paratroopers pulled back into Noville, and prepared to repel any night assault against the village.
