Overview:

After the creation of the Ruhr pocket on 1 April, 1945 by the link-up of the American Ninth and First Armies, the German units trapped within the industrial center continued their resistance to the end. One such unit was Kompanie 1. of schwere Panzerjager Abteilung 512. Commanded by Hauptman Albert Ernst, a veteran tank hunter from the East Front with over 50 kills to his credit, the company enjoyed the 75 ton Jagdtiger, the heaviest tank hunter used during the war. Unfortunately for ernst, nearly all of his crewmen had very little training. After several brief skirmishes with American troops, the company was assigned semi-kampfgruppe status by having additional assets assigned to it. After the fall of Unna on 9 April, Ernst's ersatz kampfgruppe was ordered to attack north and break through the steel ring around the Ruhr.
Attacker: German (Elements of Kompanie 1., schwere Panzerjager Abteilung 512., supported by Volksgrenadiers of Freikorps Sauerland)
