Overview:

General von Lüttwitz’s orders required Volksgrenadier Division 26 to establish bridgeheads across the river Clerf by nightfall on the 16th, so any enemy resistance had either to be subdued quickly or bypassed. As it turned out, the biggest stumbling block turned out to be the Company K, 3rd Battalion, 110th Infantry Regiment and Company B, 103rd Engineer Battalion in Hosingen. The American defenders were simply too well dug in to be shifted easily and the close-range battle, with dozens of individual hand-to-hand encounters, swayed backwards and forwards all day. In the evening, four Shermans arrived from the 707th Tank Battalion, but failed to bring any rifle ammunition with them. The constant delays imposed by the defenders in the handful of villages along Skyline Drive forced KoKott to unleash his reserved Grenadier Regiment 78 whose 1st Battalion was thrown into the struggle for Hosingen, supported by a few Hetzers from Panzerjäger Abteilung 26.

2018-11-25(D) Tom Kearney vs Lindsey Murillo American winWacht Am Rhein 2nd Edition. The Americans captured two buildings and killed two of the three German leaders by the bottom of two, forcing Lindsey to fail a PMC and concede.

2012-04-15(A) Jeff Coleman vs Fred Ingram American win
2012-04-15(D) Fred Ingram vs Jeff Coleman American winThis is an interesting situation in that the Germans have to take buildings, but they also are at great risk of losing some in the process.

The Americans set up spread across the entire breadth of the road. On each flank, units were poised to enter some empty buildings under American control to make the German fight for them. The two center buildings on the American side were fortified on ground level (2 hexes each) - with 12 FP mines in the two lead hexes (allowing the American to shift within the building with no mine attacks - yet making it very dangerous for a German entry)

Jeff had some bad luck with his 3 flamethrowers, losing them on the first shot on all 3 (10, 10, 12). The ammo shortage affected the American, losing some MMG & the 50 cal as well as ELR'ing 4 units through the game.

By turn 7, it was apparent the Germans did not have enough left to win. The American still held the 2 fortified buildings (although one was occupied and on the verge of collapse). But the Americans were able to get one building originally controlled by the Germans.

The Hetzers did not kill one American tank, but PF did their work on 3 (all blazes)
