Overview:

The Second Marine Raiding Battalion had been successfully mopping up near their base camp for two days. At last they made contact with major enemy forces, a full battalion of Japanese were retreating from action with the main American forces at Mt. Austen. The retreating Japanese were not expecting to run into Allied opposition behind them and sought cover in a native village. It was soon turned into a fiery death from tracer fire and demolition charges.
