Overview:

Outside of the small village of Lysyanka, the Russian 156th Tank Regiment, equipped with lend-lease M4 ("Emcha") Sherman tanks, encountered well-placed German anti-tank and infantry forces on the road ahead. The Germans were convinced that no armor could approach their flanks due to very wet and soft ground. Russian Lieutenant Gevorg Chobanyan thought the Emchas' low ground pressure might enable them to take advantage of a ravine to the north of the Germans' location. Leading 6 Emchas with "desantniki" riders, they slowly circled around the Germans, unseen until they burst out of the ravine only 200 meters from the shocked defenders.

2023-11-18(A) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best Russian winWe played 5 turns of this scenario. The Germans had a lot of bad luck.50L MALF'd on first shot, recovered and shocked a tank that survived that and helped take it out. The 75L managed one kill before it was wiped in CC. Effective use of smoke allowed the Russians to get in close and together with their remaining 5 Shermans were able to eliminate all the Germans for the win. Once the momentum swung to my Russians, it never sent back. In a small tight scenario losing the momentum is a killer.
