Overview:
With the idea that “if you cut off the head of the snake, the body will die,” the Germans planned Operation Rosselsprung. A number of German units were to surround and isolate Tito’s HQ, located near the city of Drvar. At the same time, the SS Fallschirmjager Batallion 500 and other attached units were to attack Tito’s HQ from the air. The battalion was split into smaller attack groups with certain objectives such as disrupting communication networks and gathering intelligence.
