Overview:

"Dig Them Out!" -- Hill 742, keypoint of the Japanese defense on the east side of the front, was the goal of many Soviet recon missions. Japanese intelligence revealed the Russians were preparing an attack. At 1830, an intense artillery barrage fell on the Japanese defenders. Some were buried alive in their foxholes. At 2000, the Russian artillery lengthened their fire to block eventual reinforcements. The Russian infantry, supported by armor, began to slowly progress toward the hill. ..

2023-12-28(D) Jobbo Fett vs JobboFett Japanese winThe Japanese rolled poorly on the Bombardment dr's, resulting in the vast majority of their units getting dinged up by the OBA. The theme of the game was rolling high on morale checks, and big swings in repair capability (either repairing everything or breaking everything, no in-betweens). The Smoke laid down by the Russian force was a constant help in the approach to higher ground, but a very active Japanese sniper, persistent defense and lucky CC rolls thinned out the attacking forces enough to make getting the last 9 necessary VP simply too hard, or too improbable to achieve. I would definitely look at giving the Russians the balance, it would make for a tighter game.
