Overview:

For two days the Poles desperately tried to hold a line in the vicinity of the Warta and Widawka Rivers but were gradually pushed back. However, the stubborn resistance of the crack Polish 10th Infantry Division was threatening to throw the German invaders severely off their time schedule and might enable the Poznan Army to escape almost certain encirclement. Determined to break through, the Germans brought up heavy reinforcements including the elite Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler Regiment and attacked at once.

2024-06-04(D) Mark Thompson vs Steve Boro (Germans)A Polish winThe German attack concentrated on the Polish left and center, with a sole HS flanker on the right to strip concealment/block rout paths. Polish OBA harassing fire/picket forces slowed the center and wire on the left hill mass significantly hampered progress there. With fortunate DRs when needed - including ATR- and CC Reaction Fire-destruction of both Panzer 1s - the Poles managed to stop the center and severely attrit the left board edge exit run with a 9-2/MMG stack in 3F5 laying down a hail of fire. With 15 EVP tallied, the last DFF DR of the game broke the HS and pinned the 8-0 that represented the German margin of victory or defeat. Great fun and well-played. A fun classic that offers several options for defense/OBA utilization.
2021-10-31(D) Eric Topp vs Ron Oxford Polish winRon got zip from his German OBA after he malf-ed the radio then rolled a "6" to repair. I wasn't expecting much from the Polish OBA but it caused mayhem to the enemy. The German 9-2 leader went Berserk taking two squads with him. They ran into the FFE and were eliminated in the Movement Phase. In my next Prep Fire Phase, I moved the FFE and it killed a squad and broke a leader. Ron conceded at that point.
2020-08-16(A) Rob MacGinley vs Ian Willey Polish winThought I had him when the Southern Flank Falling Fast but he just swung in and cooked me!!
2018-03-07(A) Doug McMullen vs Steve Steinmetz In progressExcellent scenario with problems for both sides to solve. I think the SS has a slight edge but the Poles can help their cause with judicious and crafty use of wire and OBA.

In my advance I used the central forest to avoid polish OBA and used my tin can afvs to distract the right flank long enough that my guys could push thru the forest and take the central stone house before Steve had realized that repositioning his defense was needed. Probably better is putting the AFVs upfront as smoke dischargers, but my distraction ruse worked well enough.
2017-01-07(A) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best German (SS) winVery fun scenario. My Germans went hard to the left side across the open ground and got very lucky and managed to exit the 16 VP by turn 5.
