Overview:
After being forced from their positions on the eastern edge of the Cornesti Massif, the Soviet 5th and 9th Cavalry Divisions followed the retreating 96th Rifle Division into Chisinau, located along the northern edge of the Massif. On 16 July, the 1st Armored Division forced its way into Chisinau by attacking the Soviets’ rear after moving through the rough highlands and attacking from the north and northwest.Attacker: Romanian (Elements of the 1st Armored Division)
