Overview:

To prevent a British advance from Andalsnes, Hitler ordered a paradrop to block the rail line and Riksvei 50 road from Dombas. The planning for the mission was absymal, and the execution criminally naive. The enemy and weather situation at the drop zone was unknown, and there were no maps. But the Ju-52s carrying I. Komapnie, Fallschirmjager-Regiment 1 flew. Accurate anti-aircraft machine gun fire and bad weather took a terrible toll, and only seven of the fifteen Junkers returned. The paratroopers and their weapon containers were scattered over the difficult and snow-covered terrain. The part of I. Kompanie that wasn't killed or captured cut the rail and telephone lines just south of Dombas. On April 15, the Norwegians mounted a failed attempt to open the road to secure a route for the escape of the Norwegian royal family and cabinet. By the next day, the Fallschirmjager were surrounded, short on ammunition and food, and freezing to the bone. The Northmen attacked again.
Attacker: Norwegian (2nd Battalion, 11th Infantry Regiment; 1st Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment)
Defender: German (1. Kompanie, I. Bataillon, Fallschirmjager-Regiment 1, 7. Flieger-Division)
